Take the Christmas Day Plunge in Memory of Danny Crowley
The Annual Danny Crowley Christmas Day?Swim in aid of The Mercy Hospital Kids + Teens Appeal will take place on Christmas Day where participants from near and far, will brave the chilly waters at Myrtleville Beach at 10.30am in memory of Danny Crowley.
Anyone interested in taking part can get their sponsorship cards and t-shirts ahead of the swim at Mano Mano Barber Shop, Main Street, Carrigaline from Deborah Lonergan on (086) 3739135, from Jennifer Kelleher (087) 9957252 or from any member of the Crowley family
This annual event began in 2013 and was organised by the friends and family of Carrigaline teenager, Danny Crowley, who sadly passed away in November 2013 after a long battle with Leukemia. All funds raised will go to the Mercy Hospital Children?s Leukaemia unit, where Danny spent a significant amount of time when having treatment in 2013.
Since it was first organised in 2013 by a group of Danny?s friends, the event has gone from strength and has raised the tremendous amount of ?74,000 to date. Last Year?s, 2018 Christmas Day Charity Swim raised a phenomenal ?18,000, and was the biggest to date with over 300 swimmers braving the chilly waters for the worthy cause.
To anyone attending on the day, Paul O?Brien, ?Proprietor of Bunnyconnellan Bar & Restaurant has kindly offered all The Danny Crowley swimmers parking so ?please use Bunnyconnellan?s Car Park for parking. To ease the traffic on the day, there will also be a one way system in place through Myrtleville and Fountainstown. You can enter Myrtleville across from the Crosshaven Rugby club and the exit will be through Fountainstown.
