We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who has supported our Mercy Raffle this year. Your loyal support to this cause makes such a difference in patients lives. This year’s raffle has raised €21,000 for the Intensive Care Unit of the Mercy University Hospital.
Our prize winners for this year are:
1st Place – Kitty Kiely- Innishannon
2nd Place – Noel Ryan – Lombardstown
What difference will the raffle funds make to the patients?
Can you imagine being bed bound for weeks and needing help to eat, drink or even read the newspaper? This is what it is like for many of the patients in our ICU who have suffered a stroke, a spinal cord injury or are suffering from an illness that restricts their movement.
By selling raffle tickets to friends and family this year, you have helped us to purchase 2 new Motorised Comfort Chairs for our ICU. These state-of-the-art chairs offer high support for patients and allow them to spend more time sitting out of their bed meaning they can eat, drink and interact with others without assistance. This also means they are less likely to develop pressure ulcers which can become extremely dangerous and painful over time. Elaine Hanna, nurse manager of the Intensive Care Unit in the Mercy Hospital knows how much a change your support will make in people’s lives;
Now you can see why each ticket you sell is so important to us. By selling tickets you are making a meaningful difference to our elderly patients.
