We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who has supported our Mercy Raffle this year. Your loyal support to this cause makes such a difference in patients lives. As you know, funds raised in this year’s raffle are going towards making the hospital a much more comfortable place for patients suffering from dementia. We have left a little piece below for you to read and see the amazing difference your help and support can make.
Our prize winners for this year are:
1st Place – Julia Hall – Shanagarry
2nd Place – Sean O’ Callaghan – Donoughmore
What difference will the raffle funds make to the patients?
Did you know that a hospital environment can have a negative impact on a person with dementia?
Everything around them is so different and unfamiliar. They can feel quite confused, scared and they
can even feel afraid.
Mary has dementia and when she was admitted to hospital she felt disorientated and afraid:
The biggest change will be improved signage so patients can find their way around easily. Our plan
is for welcoming wall colours along with clear signs to orientate and direct patients and visitors. We
will also have much better lighting at the end of dark corridors. The money you raise will transform
bland areas with clear bright colours and directions so patients like Mary will feel less disorientated
Now you can see why each ticket you sell is so important to us. By selling tickets you are making a
meaningful difference to our elderly patients.
Once you have sold your tickets, please send the completed stubs, money and reply slip to The
Mercy University Hospital Foundation in the FREEPOST envelope enclosed by Monday 23rd
Thank you for helping patients like Mary feel comfortable and happy during their time at The Mercy
